Could your child's breathing be affecting how they feel every day?
Children can develop breathing habits without realising it.
You may notice:
-
Air hunger or struggling to take a deep breath
-
Breathless during daily activity or exercise
-
Chest tightness or shallow breathing
-
Over-breathing or frequent breath holding
-
Feeling like they can't get enough air when talking/eating
-
Don't feel in control of their breathing
-
Feeling "on edge," or tense.
Sometimes, parents simply notice that their child's breathing doesn't seem quite right.
Learning healthy breathing habits can help children become more aware of their breathing and give them simple techniques they can use when they feel worried, overwhelmed, unsettled or out of breath.

Why breathing matters more than you think
Your breathing is directly linked to how your body manages stress.
When breathing becomes inefficient, your system can stay in a mild state of alert, even when nothing is wrong.
This can influence:
-
energy levels
-
focus
-
sleep quality
-
physical tension
Functional breathing helps the body move out of that “switched on” stress state and back into a more natural breathing rhythm.
Give your child simple tools they can use every day

✓ Encourage comfortable breathing through their nose
✓ Relax and settle after a busy day
✓ Use simple breathing techniques before bedtime
✓ Feel more confident when their breathing feels difficult
✓ Use their techniques at home, during sport or everyday activities

About
My name is Laura Duffy.
I'm a Functional Breathing & Nervous System Practitioner, helping people understand their breathing and learn practical techniques to manage how they respond to everyday pressure.
I combine globally recognised breathwork training with my own personal journey through asthma and burnout.
When working with children, my approach is straightforward:
No complicated theory.
No pressure to breathe perfectly.
No sitting still for an hour.
Just simple, age-appropriate techniques that children can understand, practise and enjoy.
Simple techniques they can use when they feel worried, overwhelmed, unsettled or out of breath.

Functional Breathing Foundations – Children’s Assessment
Before beginning children's 1:1 sessions, I offer a free online parent assessment to discuss your child’s symptoms, breathing patterns, medical history, and any concerns in more detail.
This helps ensure the programme is tailored appropriately to your child’s needs and provides an opportunity to ask any questions before getting started.
